In Kakamega County’s Mahiakhalo ward, the youth are speaking out — and not in song or dance this time. They claim they’ve been completely left out of the Nyota Fund programme, the government’s supposed ticket to youth empowerment.
Apparently, the “shining star” fund forgot to shine on Mahiakhalo — maybe the GPS malfunctioned on its way there.
The frustrated youths say they’ve watched from the sidelines as opportunities land everywhere else — except where they actually are.
Meanwhile, officials insist everyone had a fair chance, which sounds a lot like telling someone without Wi-Fi to apply online.
So for now, the Nyota may keep glowing on paper — but for Mahiakhalo’s youth, it’s more of a blackout than a breakthrough.
